Left, one of the many ferries (Ger:  Fahre) on the Rhein.  The Rhein has very few bridges, in large measure because bridges drew combat action to an area in World War II.  During the Cold War, many Germans wanted to maintain the Rhein as a significant obstacle for any invading army... from either east OR west!  Hence, the many ferries.
